The Sky’s the Limit With DTG Printing

DTG printing, what is it?

A big batch of custom T-shirts comes in handy for so many different situations. Maybe you’re having a team-building day at the office and want to help bring everyone together with company shirts that feature each person’s name. For a family reunion, matching “Evans Family BBQ Bash 2018!” will put a smile on everyone’s faces. Except the teenagers; they’ll all roll their eyes, but they roll their eyes at everything, so…

What if you need a smaller batch, though? “Dress-alike” family photos are all the rage now, with Mom, Dad, and the little ones posing in front of a covered bridge, on the beach, or in a lush forest. People love to make their family photos something unique with witty T-shirt designs for each family member. It can be tough to find a place to print a custom “Thing 1,” “Thing 2,” and “Thing 3” shirt for each kid when many custom shirt sellers have a required minimum amount for each design.

The same thing applies when you have a T-shirt idea that would make a fantastic gift. When you want to create an original “Game of Stones” shirt for your geologist husband, it can be frustrating to discover that many custom T-shirt sellers won’t create just one for you; they want you to purchase a dozen. (And as cool as the shirt may be, twelve of them is more overkill than the Red Wedding.)

DTG Printing: One or One Dozen?

Those minimum amounts aren’t because T-shirt shops want to see your hubby wearing the same silly T-shirt for two weeks out of every year. It’s because it takes quite a bit of time to set up a screen printing machine to create your custom design. If a shop is going to go through all that effort, they need you to purchase an amount that makes it all worth it.

This was the situation everywhere until DTG printing changed everything. After that, T-shirt makers burned their old screen-printing machines in giant bonfires and breathed a sigh of relief, while custom T-shirt customers everywhere began to celebrate with wild parties. (Ok; perhaps the reaction wasn’t quite that dramatic, but you get the idea. Screen-printing is still pretty fantastic for large orders, actually.)

DTG stands for “direct-to-garment,” and this style of printing takes literally minutes from start to finish. The machine can be set up in the blink of an eye and the shirt is printed with magical speed. This means that if you need a bunch of shirts, three shirts, or even just one, there are no more minimum purchase limits on what you can create.

Everyone shout it with me in an angry, Mommy Dearest kind of rant: “No more minimum purchase limits!”

At DSR T-Shirts, we love our DTG machine because it allows us to serve our big-batch customers, as well as the one-off orders. With a small order, we can typically get your printing completed in as little as one day. Whether your design is likely to create eye-rolls, groans, smiles, tears, or all of these simultaneously, with DSR T-Shirts, the sky’s the limit on what you can create!
